The mycorrhizae of Entoloma saepium on Rosa sp. are comprehensively de
scribed and compared to other mycorrhizae of the genus Entoloma, as we
ll as to similar unidentified mycorrhizae known from the literature. E
. saepium appears to be more a parasite than a symbiont, as it invades
and almost completely destroys the root meristem and young root cells
