Abstract
A simple, rapid and accurate FTIR spectroscopic method for the determi nation of the ethylene oxide (EO) content of nonionic surfactants is p resented. The ratio of peak heights appearing at 720 cm-1 and 843 cm-1 shows a linear increase with increase in EO content of straight chain alcohol ethoxylates. This ratio is a good indicator of the average EO content of nonionic surfactants.
