A theory, methods, and software are developed for the automated calcul
ation of the retouching profile in order to compensate axisymmetric an
d nonaxisymmetric aberrations that are caused by errors in the fabrica
tion of high-resolution optical systems. The retouching profile is cal
culated on the basis of interferograms recorded within the field of vi
ew of the objective. The software makes it possible to estimate the ef
fectiveness of the retouching on the basis of optophysical image-quali
ty criteria.
