Y. Karakousis et al., MORPHOLOGICAL AND ALLOZYMIC VARIATION IN POPULATIONS OF MYTILUS-GALLOPROVINCIALIS FROM THE AEGEAN SEA, Journal of molluscan studies, 59, 1993, pp. 165-173
Eight populations of Mytilus galloprovincialis from different coasts o
f the Northern and Central Aegean Sea have been investigated at the mo
rphological and allozymic level. A significant degree of variation was
found within and among the populations. The average degree of heteroz
ygosity ranges from 0.085 to 0.14 and it is lower than those reported
for other populations of the same species. No correlation was found be
tween the degree of heterozygosity and the morphological variability a
mong the populations examined.
