M. Freiregarabal et al., EFFECTS OF BUSPIRONE ON THE RESISTANCE, DEVELOPMENT AND PASSIVE TRANSFER OF IMMUNITY TO LISTERIA-MONOCYTOGENES IN MICE SUBMITTED TO STRESS, Archives internationales de pharmacodynamie et de therapie, 324, 1993, pp. 114-123
Mice exposed to a chronic auditory stressor and treated chronically wi
th buspirone (I mg/kg) showed a reduction in stress-induced suppressio
n of the resistance and development of immunity to Listeria monocytoge
nes. Attempts to passively transfer immunity with spleen cells were al
so performed. Stressed, immunized mice had a reduced capacity to trans
fer immunity passively to nonimmunized mice and buspirone was found to
partially suppress this inhibitory effect of stress.
