INTRAMUSCULAR METASTASIS OF CARCINOMA

Four cases of intramuscular metastasis of carcinoma are reported. The preoperative clinical diagnosis of all four cases was soft-tissue sarc oma. Definitive diagnoses, made by open biopsy, were uterine carcinoma , gastric carcinoma, lung carcinoma, and hypopharyngeal carcinoma. All patients died from lung, liver, or brain metastasis several months af ter open biopsy despite surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy. C ase reports of macroscopic metastases to muscle are rare, and the auth ors report four such cases experienced during a 15-year period.
