M. Houssainiiraqui et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF CAR-ALPHA, CAR LEP, AND CRT-I GENES-CONTROLLING THE BIOSYNTHESIS OF CAROTENES IN MYCOBACTERIUM-AURUM, Current microbiology, 27(6), 1993, pp. 317-322
The genes controlling the biosynthesis of carotenes in Mycobacterium a
urum responsible for its yellow pigmentation were previously cloned (F
EMS Microbiol Lett 1992, 90:239-244). In this study, the genes Crt I,
car alpha, and car Lep, controlling respectively the formation of lyco
pene from phytoene (phytoene desaturase), alpha-carotene from lycopene
, and leprotene from lycopene, were localized.
