Abstract
RSF1010-derived plasmids are most efficiently transferred by conjugati on to the unicellular cyanobacteria Synechocystis strains sp. PCC6803 and PCC6714 and Synechococcus strains sp. PCC7942 and PCC6301, where t hey replicate autonomously, even though they contain no cyanobacterial DNA. These results are especially important in the case of the facult ative heterotrophic strain Synechocystis PCC6714, which is not transfo rmable [Mol Gen Genet 204:185, 1986]
