The design and operation of a meter to measure the electric field inte
nsity of a single microwave pulse is described. A dielectric acoustic
line for surface acoustic wave (SAW) with nonlinear acousto-electric p
roperties and two transducers are used. The first (nonlinear) metal-st
rip transducer excites a SAW due to the nonlinear effects as effected
by the microwave's electric field. The delayed signal, which carries i
nformation about the field intensity, is picked up by an interdigital
transducer.
