Abstract
The Szeged index (St) of unbranched catacondensed benzenoid (UBCB) hyd rocarbons is examined. An efficient method for the calculations of the ir St is put forward. Among the UBCB molecules with a fixed number of hexagons, the Linear polyacene has a maximal and the helicene a minima l St.
