Abstract
We present a technique to experimentally determine the value of the te mperature perturbation delta T in photothermal microscopy. Knowledge o f delta T is necessary for proper analysis of the differential optical reflectivity (delta R/delta T) data obtained from untwinned Y1Ba2Cu3O 7 crystals. We measure delta T to be 0.2 K, consistent with previous t heoretical predictions from thermal diffusion data. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics.
