A case of primary pulmonary malignant lymphoma (PML) was evaluated by
I-123-IMP scintigraphy and (TlCl)-Tl-201 SPECT. Radiography and CT sho
wed a so-called lobar consolidation on the chest that was difficult to
differentiate from other benign conditions. However, I-123-IMP scinti
graphy showed a defect corresponding to the lesion both in the early a
nd delayed images, and (TlCl)-Tl-201 SPECT showed a higher retention i
ndex than that of benign disorders. Both results were highly suggestiv
e of malignancy. These scintigraphies can help differentiate PML from
benign lesions and other malignant pulmonary tumors.
