Abstract
Sources of platinum-group metal losses in conventional decomposition p rocedures for carbonaceous rocks are considered. A decomposition proce dure with a mixture of H2SO4 and CrO3 is proposed taking into account some peculiarities of the speciation of platinum-group metals in these rocks. The results of the determination of these metals in auriferous black shale by the procedure proposed are compared with the results o f their direct determination by mass spectrometry and neutron activati on microassay.
