Different approaches are used to theoretically derive the expression f
or the coefficient of triple recombination as a function of temperatur
e and pressure. Numerous solutions of inverse problems and comparison
with the results of experiments in a ballistic path and shock tube pro
ve the validity of the derived coefficient of triple recombination. It
is shown that this expression is valid for moderate pressures and com
plements the results of Pitaevskii for low pressures and of Langevin f
or high pressures.
