Abstract
Experimental investigation is performed of special features observed d uring heating and cooling of metal surfaces with active absorbing coat ings under the effect of CO2-laser radiation in the continuous and sca nning modes. Threshold values are determined of the coating thickness, laser radiation power, and surface temperature that correspond to loc alized combustion of coating with substantial heat release into the su rface layer of metal.
