O. Laccourreye et al., IMPLANTATION METASTASIS FOLLOWING PERCUTANEOUS ENDOSCOPIC GASTROSTOMY, Journal of Laryngology and Otology, 107(10), 1993, pp. 946-949
Since it was first described, the original percutaneous endoscopic gas
trostomy (PEG) technique has proved to be a va adjunct in patients wit
h head and neck tumours. This procedure is being increasingly utilized
in the face of swallowing impairment related to head and neck carcino
ma. Although generally well tolerated, it may be associated with compl
ications. In this report, we document tumour implantation at the percu
taneous endoscopic gastric site and review the report cases. It appear
s that implantation metastasis does alter prognosis.
