Abstract
Poly(N-methylisoindole) is prepared by chemical and electrochemical me thods and its properties are reported: the polymer shows interesting o ptical, electrochromic and conducting behaviour. It shows a colour cha nge (golden to near colourless) on oxidation associated with absorptio n in the near infrared (lambda(max) about 1400 nm) in the doped polyme r and an intrinsic bandgap of about 2 eV.
