SYNTHESIS AND CRYSTAL-STRUCTURES OF 2 DIALKYL-SUBSTITUTED SEXITHIOPHENES

Two stereoregular dialkyl-substituted sexithiophenes have been synthes ized and their X-ray structures revealed. Both molecules have neighbou ring thiophene rings placed antiparallel and the molecules are almost planar. The torsional angles between the rings vary from 5 to 11-degre es. The alkyl side chains are in the planar zigzag form and almost con fined to the plane of the thiophene backbone.
