In the framework of the distorted-wave impulse approximation a calcula
tion of the cross section for the reaction of (pi+,K+) associated prod
uction of the O-16LAMBDA hypernucleus is performed. The influence of t
he LAMBDA-particle continuum is taken into account by means of the osc
illator representation of scattering theory. The role of the hole exci
tations of the nuclear core of the type s-1 is studied, and it is show
n that the excited J(pi) = 0+ states (s-1s(LAMBDA)) of the hypernucLeu
s O-16LAMBDA form a peak in the cross section in the region E(LAMBDA)
almost-equal-to 12-14 MeV.
