Ps. Taylor et al., DEMONSTRATION OF PINE FEEDING BY EMPOASCA-FABAE (HARRIS) (HOMOPTERA, CICADELLIDAE) USING AN ELEMENTAL MARKER, Journal of the Kansas Entomological Society, 66(2), 1993, pp. 250-252
Overwintering adult potato leafhoppers caged on branches of Rb-enhance
d loblolly pine were found to contain high levels of Rb, suggesting th
e use of pines as host plants. Previously unreported, use of southern
pines as both resting sites and hosts may represent a significant comp
onent of the overwintering ecology of this migrant crop pest.
