Z. Witkiewicz et al., A NEW INSTRUMENT FOR OVERPRESSURED LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY, JPC. Journal of planar chromatography, modern TLC, 6(5), 1993, pp. 407-412
A new instrument has been developed for overpressured layer chromatogr
aphy. In the instrument the eluent is fed on to the chromatographic pl
ate, from below, by a syringe pump. The velocity of the mobile phase i
s very stable and is linearly dependent on the migration distance. Gas
is used to apply overpressure to the chromatographic plate. The perfo
rmance of the new instrument was tested by separating the components o
f different mixtures. The separations were much better than those obta
ined in classical chromatographic chambers and were achieved in less t
ime. The instrument can be set up extremely quickly and is very easy t
o operate.
