Abstract
2-Acyl-1,3-dithiane 1-oxides undergo diastereoselective addition of Gr ignard reagents; the degree of selectivity observed is highly dependen t upon the solvent and the halide counter-ion used; very high selectiv ities have been observed under certain reaction conditions.
