Abstract
Body condition scoring is a method for indirect evaluation of nutritio n in dairy herds. It is useful for both ''snapshots'' and for continuo us monitoring of cows. The typical course of body condition is shown a nd targets for the development during lactation are presented. Indicat ions from abnormal condition scores for inadequate nutrition managemen t and the correlation of body condition to reproductive indices are di scussed.
