Abstract
The hitherto undescribed chemical composition of specimens of the spon ges Tedania anhelans, Hymeniacidon sanguinea and Halichondria bowerban ki collected in the lagoon of Venice, was investigated. This study rev ealed some differences in their chemical composition when compared wit h samples of the same sponges collected in open sea. This points to a planktonic origin of some metabolites of the specimens coming from the lagoon.
