Oxidative addition of phenyl isocyanide dichloride (C6H5NCCl2) to Ni(C
OD)2 (COD = cycloocta-1,5-diene) in the presence of dppm (dppm = bis(d
iphenylphosphino)methane) in toluene is found to be a high yield proce
dure for the preparation of the new phenyl isocyanide-bridged A-frame
complex, Ni2(mu-CNC6H5)(dppm)2Cl2. The title complex crystallizes in t
he chiral space group P4(3)2(1)2 (a = 14.871(3), c = 25.790(7) angstro
m, V = 5703.7 angstrom3, Z = 4) and its structure was determined by X-
ray diffraction.
