Abstract
Spectral-luminescent properties of the Nd3+-activated laser liquid bas ed upon POCl3-SnCl4 upon excitation by-products of nuclear reactions h ave been researched. It was concluded that the main luminescence chara cteristics such as tau, DELTAlambda, and lambda(max) depend slightly u pon the way of the medium excitation. It was obtained that the pumping efficiency delta of the upper working level is directly proportional to the activator ions' concentration and almost independent of the ura nyl presence in the liquid. The measured values tau, DELTAlambda, lamb da(max), and delta were used for the estimates of some parameters of n uclear-pumped lasers based upon phosphorus oxychloride. The effect of the Nd3+ ions laser action from the F-4(3/2) level to the I-4(11/2) le vel (lambda = 1,050 nm) in aprotic liquids POCl3-SnCl4 in the presence of uranium by flashlamp pumping has been obtained.
