Suspension cultured cells of Catharanthus roseus hydroxylate the allyl
ic positions of geraniol, nerol and (+)- and (-)-carvone and reduce do
uble bonds and ketone groups. After incubation for 7 days, the main pr
oducts of(-)- and (+)-carvone were 5 beta-hydroxyneodihydrocarveol and
5 alpha-hydroxycarvone, respectively. Copyright (C) 1997 Elsevier Sci
