IRIDOIDS AND SECOIRIDOIDS FROM GENTIANA-LINEARIS

Phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of Gentiana line aris roots red to the isolation of two novel iridoids (7-O-coumaroyl-l oganic acid; 7-O-(4''-O-glucosyl)coumaroyl-loganic acid) and a new sec oiridoid (6''''-O-glucosyltriAoroside) together with trifloroside, gen tiopicroside, isovitexin and isosaponarin. The structures have been el ucidated by MS and NMR spectral data, enzymic and chemical degradation . The chemotaxonomic significance of the isolated secoiridoids and iri doids is briefly discussed.
