Abstract
Two new alkaloids named piperlactam S and piperine S have been isolate d from the stem and leaves of Piper puberullum, in addition to puberul lumine and three known pyridone alkaloids. The structures of these com pounds were determined on the basis of spectral analyses. The known co mpounds were identified as piplartine dimer, piplartine and 8,9-dihydr opiplartine and obtained for the first time from this species. Copyrig ht (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
