This paper describes new control methods for the active suspension. Fo
r improving ride comfort further, preview control rule is proposed. Fo
r improving stability further, roll stiffness distribution control rul
e is examined by the test vehicle. Simulations and vehicle driving tes
ts are conducted to confirm the effect of these new control methods. T
he results of simulations and vehicle driving tests show in our resear
ch phase that preview control can achieve a substantial improvement in
ride comfort and application Of roll stiffness distribution control p
rovides a large improvement in stability.
