M. Giralt et P. Vandenboom, RINODINA BRANDII, A NEW SAXICOLOUS LICHEN SPECIES FROM BELGIUM CONTAINING PANNARIN, Belgian journal of botany, 129(1), 1996, pp. 77-82
A new saxicolous species of Rinodina (R. brandii sp. nov.) is describe
d from Belgium, where it grows on schistose rocks. It is mainly charac
terized by the presence of pannarin, located only in the epihymenium,
its thallus containing atranorin and zeorin and its large Physcia-type
ascospores. It is compared with Rinodina confragosa, morphologically
very similar, and with R. murrayi and R. santorinensis, chemically ver
y close.
