Hp. Berg et P. Brennecke, BASIC CONSIDERATIONS ON RADIOACTIVE-WASTE CLASSIFICATION REGARDING THE DIFFERENT WASTE MANAGEMENT STEPS, Kerntechnik, 58(5), 1993, pp. 264-268
Radioactive waste classification systems are designed to facilitate th
e exchange of technical information between waste management instituti
ons and, more general, between different countries. Because such waste
classification systems may serve a wide range of often competing and
conflicting objectives, one classification system cannot serve all pur
poses. Different approaches are described, considering the different w
aste management steps, and taking into account the fact that radioacti
ve waste must finally be disposed of in an appropriate repository.
