S. Bolis et al., ATRIAL-FLUTTER FOLLOWED BY SICK SINUS SYNDROME AS PRESENTING SYMPTOMSOF B-CELL MALIGNANT NON-HODGKIN-LYMPHOMA INVOLVING THE HEART, Haematologica, 78(5), 1993, pp. 332-334
A case of non-Hodgkin lymphoma involving the heart is described; the p
atient suffered for atrial flutter, followed by sick sinus syndrome fo
r one year before diagnosis was made. Although it is not possible to d
emonstrate primary cardiac onset, the clinical history is highly sugge
stive. Most recent cases described occurred in immunodeficient patient
s. Interestingly our patient showed no evidence of immunodeficiency. O
ur patient received conventional chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy
, obtaining complete remission without complications, and remains in t
his condition after a 3-year follow-up. The patient's good condition m
ay be responsible for this successful outcome.
