A case of a teres minor myopathy causing chronic lameness in a five-ye
ar-old working labrador retriever is described. Ultrasonography was us
ed to assist in detection of the condition and a definitive diagnosis
was made by histological examination after muscle excision. Medical tr
eatment was ineffective, but excision of the affected muscle resulted
in complete resolution of the lameness with no apparent adverse affect
s on joint function. The aetiology of this condition is unknown.
