I. Ekesbo, VETERINARY MEDICAL, ETHICAL AND ECONOMIC- ASPECTS OF THE TREATMENT OFMANURE WITH RESPECT TO ANIMAL HEALTH, Tierarztliche Umschau, 48(11), 1993, pp. 751-753
The effects of various factors in the treatment of manure on diseases
of cattle and pigs are analysed. For some of these factors the economi
c and ethical consequences are presented. The survival and therefore t
he risks of transmission of infectious agents is reduced by using soli
d manure rather than slurry or composting. Therefore expensive measure
s to combat the occurrence of infectious diseases are unnecessary and
ethical aspects are more easily met. The economic advantages by the us
e of preventive measures can only be obtained by the use of solid manu
re procedures.
