Jd. Abdulian et al., DIEULAFOY-LIKE LESION OF THE RECTUM PRESENTING WITH EXSANGUINATING HEMORRHAGE - SUCCESSFUL ENDOSCOPIC SCLEROTHERAPY, The American journal of gastroenterology, 88(11), 1993, pp. 1939-1941
The classic Dieulafoy lesion is a minute gastric mucosal defect that b
leeds massively from an exposed artery. Similar lesions have been iden
tified in the small intestine, colon, and rectum. In this report, we d
escribe a patient who presented with an exsanguinating hemorrhage from
a small rectal ulcer with a visible vessel. Control of the bleeding w
as achieved with endoscopic sclerotherapy using absolute alcohol and 1
.5% sodium tetradocyl sulfate, with eventual complete healing of the s
ite.
