Abstract
In the photochemistry of the title compounds, the anti isomer 6 afford ed oxepine 9 whereas the syn isomer yielded 9 and 10; the reactions pr oceeded partly via cyclobutanediones 12 and 13. The distinct photochem ical behavior are explained in terms of stereoelectronic effects of th e epoxy rings.
