L. Izzo et M. Tanda, ARRAY DETECTION OF RANDOM SIGNALS IN SPHERICALLY INVARIANT NOISE, The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 94(5), 1993, pp. 2682-2690
The locally optimum array detector for a random signal embedded in sph
erically invariant noise is synthesized. In this observation model, th
e signal of interest is common to each array element and the noise sam
ples are assumed to be spatially independent across the array, but tem
porally correlated. Moreover, the noise at each sensor is modeled as a
spherically invariant random process, which is completely characteriz
ed by the univariate probability density function, the mean, and the c
ovariance function. The performance is assessed via computer simulatio
ns and is compared with those of two suboptimum detectors. The first o
ne is the locally optimum detector for Gaussian correlated noise; the
second one is the locally optimum detector for temporally independent
non-Gaussian noise samples.
