Abstract
A specialized use of transference interpretation (TI) is appropriate i n brief therapy. A study of the impact of interpretation demonstrates that TI has a potent influence on the therapy process. A judicious app lication of TI, in line with a careful formulation of the patient's di fficulty, can be an effective technique in short-term psychotherapy.
