Abstract
Instrumented impact tests of standard Charpy V-notch specimens of stru ctural steel were carried out over a temperature range from 223 to 353 K. The results show that as in slow notch-bend, the cleavage-characte ristic stress S(co) also plays a controlling role in the critical cond ition for the ductile/brittle transition in the Charpy V-notch impact test in structural steel.
