Abstract
The model of Alessandro, Beatrice, Bertotti, and Montorsi [J. Appl. Ph ys. 68, 2901 (1990)] is used to derive the Barkhausen noise power inte grated over all frequencies. Using the magnetomechanical hysteresis mo del of Sablik and Jiles [IEEE Trans. Magn. 29, 2113 (1993)], it is the n shown how the Barkhausen noise power peaks at a magnetic field H lar ger than the H value at which the magnetic permeability peaks. Variati on with respect to applied stress and with respect to field ramp rate H is also investigated. The almost linear increase of Barkhausen ampli tude with applied stress seen experimentally is confirmed by the model .
