Abstract
A study has been made of a series of zeolite catalysts modified with l anthanum and magnesium oxides, the additives being introduced into the zeolite by different methods. It has been established that the most a ctive catalysts are those modified by ion exchange. It is concluded th at the alkylation of phenol by methanol proceeds mainly inside the zeo lite pores and involves at least two types of acid centers.
