Abstract
The results of weathering and electrochemical tests were integrated in order to study the evolution of the protective mechanisms of zinc-ric h paints (ZRP) over time. After three years of atmospheric exposure, s ome of the tested ZRP coatings still maintained a great part of their original capacity for providing cathodic protection. The paints formul ated with the ethyl silicate vehicle stand out in this respect. On the other hand, an important improvement of the barrier effect is shown, especially with the paints formulated with the epoxy-polyamide vehicle .
