The paper evaluates powder-like hydrogels based on polymers and copoly
mers of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA) and methacrylic acid (MAA) a
s potential pharmaceutical adjuvants. The possibility of use of these
substances in the form of composite materials with silicone rubber as
matrices for transdermal therapeutic systems was studied. The rate of
release of nitroglycerin from the matrices at discontinuous sink condi
tions was measured and evaluated using a Tornquist hyperbolic function
. The results show that the HEMA-MAA copolymers are prospective adjuva
nts for use in transdermal therapeutic systems.
