Within a WHO Coordinated Programme on Quality Assurance and Control in
Diagnostic Radiology, a study was carried out on the performance of a
number of conventional radiographic units. The study was performed us
ing physical test objects: timing and mA.s test kit, focal spot test t
ool, wide range kV(p) cassette and test patterns. The measurements wer
e made in four radiodiagnostic departments in Bucharest, on 18 X ray r
adiographic units. The checking of parameters of radiographic equipmen
t using test objects offered valuable objective information on physica
l aspects which can positively influence the quality of the radiograph
ic image and the irradiation of the patient, mainly by maintaining the
equipment in peak operating condition and by reduction of retake rate
.
