A parallel computer was used to calculate ion trajectories in the cell
of an ion cyclotron resonance spectrometer. Computation was carried o
ut 512 ions simultaneously. Ion-cloud evolution in a non-uniform elect
ric field and ion/neutral collision processes were introduced to demon
strate the capability of parallel computation. The performance evaluat
ion of a parallel computer was fulfilled.
