Gs. Popkirov, A TECHNIQUE FOR SERIES RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT AND OHMIC DROP CORRECTION UNDER POTENTIOSTATIC CONTROL, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 359(1-2), 1993, pp. 97-103
A technique for IR correction in potential-controlled experiments with
simultaneous recording of the uncompensated resistance R is described
. Sampled high frequency measurements of R are repeatedly performed du
ring the potential control using a low amplitude sine wave perturbatio
n Voltage without disconnecting the working electrode from the potenti
ostat. The values obtained for R and the independently measured cell c
urrent are used by the software controlling the potentiostat to correc
t the applied electrode potential. An application to cyclic voltammetr
ic measurements using a silver electrode in an alkaline electrolyte is
demonstrated. The observed changes in the measured resistance R are a
nalysed and related to the voltage dependence of the current to yield
information about the electrochemistry and the validity of the IR comp
ensation.
