Abstract
Protective films of FeF2 and NiF2 formed at a temperature above 50 deg rees C were detected by electron diffraction on the surface of iron an d nickel in nitrogen trifluoride and sulfur hexafluoride. In nitrogen trifluoride on an increase of the temperature to 200-300 degrees C on iron a phase transition from FeF2 to FeF3 was established, leading to a sharp increase in the rate of interaction of iron with the medium.
