New species are described for Euptilocladia, Ptilocladia, Callithamnie
lla, Antithamnion and Anotrichium (Ceramiaceae, Ceramiales). Euptilocl
adia has not been reported previously outside Australia. E. magruderi
sp. nov. differs from Australian species in having proximal corticatio
n, whereas cortication is both distal and proximal in the Australian s
pecies. Ptilocladia yuenii sp. nov, differs from the five known specie
s in habit, small size, and in being uncorticated, the latter feature
not shared with ether species. Callithamniella pacifica sp. nov. resem
bles other species in the genus in vegetative structure, but has large
r tetrasporangia than any of the three other known species. Antithamni
on erucacladellum sp. nov. has only two whorl branchlets per whorl. Th
ey bear very short secondary branchlets and short condensed lateral br
anches which resemble gemmae that, if capable of vegetative reproducti
on, may be similar to those of Amoenothamnion planktonicum Wollaston.
Anotrichium celiana sp. nov. is shown to have vegetative and reproduct
ive features different from those of the widely distributed A. tenue (
C. Agardh) Naegeli with which it was previously confused.
