Jr. Kendra et al., 1ST USE OF G-CSF IN CHLOROPROMAZINE-INDUCED AGRANULOCYTOSIS - A REPORT OF 2 CASES, Postgraduate medical journal, 69(817), 1993, pp. 885-887
Chlorpromazine-induced agranulocytosis is an uncommon disorder associa
ted with a high frequency of fatality. We describe two patients with c
hlorpromazine-induced granulocytosis in whom granulocyte colony stimul
ating factor (G-CSF) administration enhanced the speed of neutrophil r
ecovery. No toxicity was noted with G-CSF and both patients made a suc
cessful recovery. We propose there is a role for such cytokine therapy
in patients with life-threatening agranulocytosis in order to speed t
he recovery of neutrophils.
